Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA)
Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) is a pioneering organization founded in 2014 by Daniela Fernandez during her freshman year at Georgetown University. Driven by the passion and determination of youth, SOA has rapidly emerged as a global leader in ocean conservation and sustainability.
At its core, SOA is dedicated to empowering the next generation of ocean leaders. Through its innovative programs and initiatives, SOA has cultivated the world’s largest network of young ocean advocates, spanning across 165 countries and nurturing 83 youth-led hubs. This expansive network serves as a powerful force for change, driving impactful solutions to address the most pressing challenges facing our oceans.
SOA’s mission extends beyond mere advocacy, aiming to accelerate tangible solutions for ocean and planet health. By strategically funding startups and grassroots nonprofit projects, SOA empowers innovators to develop and implement groundbreaking solutions, ranging from marine pollution mitigation to climate change adaptation.
With its unwavering commitment to sustainability and youth empowerment, SOA continues to inspire and mobilize a new generation of changemakers dedicated to preserving our planet’s most precious resource—the ocean.
